Tasmania has just recorded its warmest winter on record.
Bureau of Meteorology data shows the mean temperature across the state this winter was 1.30 degrees Celsius above the long-term average and the warmest since records began.
New South Wales and Queensland also surpassed their previous winter temperature records, while Victoria and South Australia experienced their second warmest winters on record.
With other records for the warmest July and August in terms of mean average temperature already broken, the coming months are expected to be just as hot.
The trend of above-average temperatures is set to continue in spring, with less rainfall forecasted for the state.
There is a higher likelihood of unusually low rainfall across Tasmania, particularly in the North and North-West regions.
Above median maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely for September to November.
Despite the warm conditions, Tasmania is predicted to have a regular fire risk this spring ahead of a more active than usual summer bushfire season.
