A shark has been spotted near a popular beach on Bruny Island this afternoon, prompting authorities to issue a community warning.
Police say swimmers and people considering venturing into the water near Coal Point should to be aware of a two to three metre long shark.

The shark, believed to be a Mako, was reportedly was sighted in the Adventure Bay area on Tuesday afternoon.
Shark sightings are not uncommon in Tasmanian waters, with the state home to a diverse range of marine life and several species of sharks.
