“Giant” hailstones the size of golfballs have pelted parts of Tasmania in what the Bureau of Meteorology have described as a “rare” event.
Areas in the Southern Midlands and Sorell area were hardest hit, with hailstones between 2 and 5 CM in diameter smashing the windscreens of some cars.
The SES say the worst of the conditions appear to be over, but are urging Tasmanians to remain vigilant.
