A burst main has caused a ‘massive’ water interruption in the Brighton area north of Hobart this morning.
Residents have reported having no water to ‘hundreds’ of houses in the Racecourse Rd, Magnolia Ct, Curtain Ct, Seymour St, Henry Place, Dollery Ct, Menin Dr, Hollingsworth St and Lille St areas – with TasWater saying approximately only 20 properties are affected.
One member of a local Brighton Facebook group said “Only 20 properties affected. Are they joking?”, while another said “[I] think they under estimated the amount of properties affected.”
TasWater say crews have been dispatched to the site and are working to resolve the issue.
The cause of the interruption is thought to be a burst main outside Brighton BP.
TasWater has estimated that the water services will return to normal around 12.15 pm.
They have advised residents to allow a few extra hours for the water to clear and reach their taps, as it may take some time for the system to fully recover.
