A Bridgewater woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly setting fire to a home in Hobart’s northern suburbs this morning.
The Tasmania Fire Service were called to Cowle Road in Bridgewater around 8am on Thursday following reports of a house on fire.
Investigators quickly determined the fire to be deliberately lit.
Officers from the Bridgewater Criminal Investigation Branch opened an investigation, leading to the arrest of the 42-year-old suspect several hours later.
The woman is now facing charges of arson in connection with the suspicious blaze and is scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court in June.
“Anyone with information should contact Bridgewater CIB on 131444 or report to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or crimestopperstas.com.au. You can stay anonymous,” police said.
The fire resulted in the temporary closure of nearby roads and the rerouting of Metro buses for nearly four hours.
