Tasmania Police have charged a 53-year-old woman from the Sheffield area in relation to the alleged unlawful lighting of multiple fires in the state’s north-west.
The woman has been accused of lighting a number of fires in the Beulah and Kimberly areas between February and March this year.
According to Inspector John King, a joint investigation was conducted by Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service and the owners of the property to determine the cause of the fires.
The damages from the fires are estimated to be over $500,000.

The woman has been charged with unlawfully setting fire to vegetation and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
Inspector King also mentioned that further charges may be laid as investigations into the alleged arson activity continue.
Police are urging anyone with information on arson incidents to come forward and report it to the authorities.
