Drones, computers, jewellery, a gaming console and a diesel generator are among the items police have seized in a Facebook Marketplace fraud investigation.

A 31-year-old woman from Midway Point, east of Hobart, has been charged with multiple fraud offences involving goods worth more than $11,000.

Police allege she arranged to meet sellers and buy their items.

They say she then either showed a fake completed bank transfer or cancelled the payment before the money reached the seller.

Officers searched her home and found several high-value digital hardware products.

They also seized more digital hardware, computers, drones, jewellery, a gaming console and a diesel generator.

The woman remains in custody and is due to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court today.

Police are urging sellers to “always ensure you gather the details of the buyer” and to confirm the money has arrived before the buyer leaves with the item.

They also recommend using a payment platform with buyer protection, meeting in person and inspecting items before agreeing to a sale.

“Always do your due diligence when dealing with anyone online,” police said.

“Never send money to anyone you don’t know. And if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”

Police now want to find the owners of the seized items.
