A 39-year-old woman has died in hospital after a head-on crash on the West Tamar Highway at Legana on Friday afternoon.
Police said the Winkleigh woman was the sole occupant of a blue Nissan Navara travelling north when a man driving a blue Skoda collided with her vehicle.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe he was responsible for a serious stabbing at a home on Main Road in Exeter shortly before the crash.

Emergency services were called to the property around 4:30pm on Friday after reports a woman had sustained serious stab wounds.
Initial investigations indicate the injuries were inflicted by a man known to the woman.

The man reportedly left the property in the blue Skoda and collided with the Navara shortly before 4:40pm.
The stabbing victim remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene was declared at the Exeter address.
Detectives, crash investigators and forensic services are continuing inquiries into both incidents.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
