Shoppers at Woolworths Glenorchy Central were forced to abandon their groceries and head elsewhere after electrical issues caused multiple store closures throughout Tuesday afternoon.
Security staff prevented new customers from entering the store while those inside were instructed to leave their full trolleys and shop at alternative supermarkets several times.
Affected customers told Pulse they received no compensation for the inconvenience of having to repeat their shopping elsewhere..
A Woolworths spokesperson confirmed the disruption was due to an electrical fault.

“Our Glenorchy Central store was forced to close for a couple of hours … after experiencing an electrical issue,” the spokesperson said.
“An electrician and our teams worked quickly to fix the issue and we were in a position to reopen [in the] afternoon.”

The store was closed from 1:45pm to 3:30pm and again from 4pm to 4:30pm while technicians worked to resolve the problem.
During earlier outages, customers reported waiting up to two hours for systems to come back online before eventually being turned away.
The spokesperson thanked customers for their patience during the disruption.
“We thank customers for their patience as we worked through this – the store is now trading as normal,” they said.
