A woman working on fallen power lines in Tasmania’s north has been taken to hospital after sustaining injuries this morning.
Granville and Brougham Streets in Launceston were temporarily closed as emergency crews responded to the incident shortly after 11am on Wednesday.
According to Police, the injured worker was taken to the Launceston General Hospital in what is believed to be a serious but stable condition.
It is understood the injured woman fell from a height of approximately 9 metres while on a ladder when the deteriorated power pole gave way.
WorkSafe Tasmania has been notified and is expected to launch an investigation.
TasNetworks say they are cooperating with authorities and providing support to the staff member and affected employees.
