Multiple people have been injured, one critically, after a serious two-vehicle crash in Mole Creek on Thursday evening.
According to Tasmania Police, a white Nissan Patrol with five occupants was traveling on the wrong side of the road when it collided with a silver Hyundai Accent driven by a couple in their 70s.
The crash also caused the Nissan Patrol to hit a power pole.
The 18-year-old driver of the Nissan Patrol suffered a possible spinal injury and was airlifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital in stable condition.
One of the passengers in the Nissan, as well as the occupants of the Hyundai, were transported to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All other passengers were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.
Inspector Ruth Orr from Tasmania Police said Crash Investigations and Forensic Services attended the scene and Liena Road was closed for about four hours while investigations were conducted.
“Our officers are on the roads every day and night, but we really need the community to take responsibility for themselves and others and take road safety seriously,” said Inspector Orr.
