Melbourne-founded frozen yoghurt chain Yo-Bar will open its first Tasmanian store at Hobart’s Eastlands shopping centre in two weeks time, with free bowls for the first 200 people in line.
The store will open at 11am on Saturday, November 7, with each free bowl valued at $10.
Directors Annie and Viv Vavitis said they were excited to bring the brand to Hobart.
“For us, this is about more than opening a new store, in a new state,” they told Pulse.
“We’re all about great vibes, delicious treats and giving people a reason to turn an ordinary day into something a little more exciting.”

The pair said opening in Tasmania was a “big milestone” for the business.
“We want people to walk in, feel the vibe and leave already planning their next visit,” they said.
“If we can make someone’s day a little sweeter, then we’re doing something right!”
Yo-Bar announced in June that it would open in a Hobart shopping centre before Christmas but did not reveal the location or an opening date at the time.
The family-owned business launched in Melbourne in 2023 and has since expanded to Adelaide, Brisbane and other locations across Australia.

It had 12 stores in June, with further openings planned before the end of 2026.
Yo-Bar operates a self-serve model, with customers able to build their own frozen yoghurt, acai bowls and fruit cups using more than 60 toppings.
The chain is not the only frozen yoghurt business moving into the Hobart market.
Yo-Chi announced in June that it was preparing to open its first Tasmanian store in the city, nearly two years after a local petition called for the brand to expand to the island.

Kingston Beach pub Salty Dog opened its frozen yoghurt and acai venue Frosty Dog in February, serving more than 10,000 cups in its first week.
Swirl & Stacks, a frozen yoghurt and deli sandwich shop, opened in Hobart’s CBD in July.
The owners of Smashboy Burgers and Viva Italia Pizzeria are also teaming up to open Yogi Bar in Glenorchy.
The new venue is expected to open by the end of October.
