The annual Hobart Regatta Derwent River swimming competition was a thrilling event yesterday, as two young champions defended their titles on the water.
Over 100 swimmers competed in the 1.3 km swim from Montagu Bay to the Regatta jetty, with an additional 20 completing the challenging 2.5 km race around the bridge.
19-year-old swimmers Billie Roger and Sam Askey-Doran wowed the crowd, with Roger dominating the first leg of the race, finishing with in speedy 17:39.
Askey-Doran, who posted an impressive 16:04 in the first race, took home the win for the third consecutive year.
Sharing photos of the race on Instagram, Askey-Doran said he was “very happy” with both races and “couldn’t be more proud” of how well the Hobart Aquatic team competed.
