A young, reckless driver has been stripped of his car after he was caught hooning in Brighton late last night.

The 20-year-old Claremont man will now be without his Ford Falcon for 28 days following the incident in the Industrial Estate around 11:30pm on Sunday.

Sergeant Chris Cupit said antisocial behaviour on Tasmanian roads will not be tolerated.

“Driving behaviour such as hooning is illegal, dangerous and interrupts the peace and quiet of citizens,” Cupit said.

“It can also easily cause a serious crash putting people’s lives at risk.”

The man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.

Anyone with dash cam footage or other evidence of this driving behaviour is asked to report it to Police.
