A 19-year-old teenage driver from Launceston has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly evaded police and collided with a police vehicle in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident took place at around 4:30AM in South Launceston when officers attempted to intercept the vehicle for alleged speeding offences in Normanstone Street.
The teen then allegedly evaded police before suddenly stopping the vehicle in Wentworth Street, Newstead, where he collided with an unmarked police vehicle, causing minor damage.
The driver was arrested at the scene and has been charged with evade police, dangerous driving, motor vehicle stealing and possessing a firearm (taser).
The man is scheduled to appear in an out-of-hours hearing in the Launceston Magistrates Court later in the evening.
Police say no one was injured during the incident.
