An 11-year-old boy is gearing up for the ride of his life as he gets ready to cycle nearly 350 kilometres along the entire east coast of Tasmania.
Hugo Green will make the journey down the state in April to raise awareness for his friend, Will O’Byrne, who is currently battling the rare and serious condition – aplastic anemia.
Green has already raised an impressive $6,580 in support of the Maddie Riewoldt Vision Charity, however he aims to raise even more to support the foundation’s mission of funding research to discover cures for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
“Hugo has been deeply moved by the struggles faced by Will and the impact it has had on him and his family’s life,” his dad Will Green said.
“In response, he has decided to take action and make a difference by raising awareness for aplastic anemia, a rare and serious condition.”
“The bike ride is a significant challenge for an 11-year-old, but Hugo is determined to push himself to the limit for these important causes.”
Green said all funds raised through the GoFundMe page will directly support both his friend and the crucial work of Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision charity.
“Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference,” he said.
