The Tasmania Fire Service has issued several ‘Watch and Act’ warnings for the wider area, advising residents to prepare for possible evacuation if conditions deteriorate.

140 personnel from three agencies and 15 aircraft were deployed to tackle the blaze on Sunday, with the aerial firefighting methods playing a crucial role in responding quickly during the changing weather conditions.

An airbase has been set up at Tarraleah to allow for a rapid aerial response, with half of the firefighting aircraft stationed there overnight and the remainder returning to Hobart and Launceston.

With weather conditions expected to be unpredictable throughout the next few days, residents are being urged to stay informed and prioritise their safety.

If evacuation becomes necessary, an Evacuation Centre has been setup at the New Norfolk Sports Centre.

Police investigations into the cause of the potentially deliberate fires, that have destroyed multiple shacks, remain underway.
