18-year-old charged after allegedly smashing windows at Queenstown businesses

A teenager has been charged with damaging property after allegedly smashing windows at several businesses in Queenstown over the weekend.

The 18-year-old was arrested around 12:40am on Sunday morning after police responded to reports of smashed windows at multiple businesses in the West Coast town.

The Empire Hotel and Soggy Brolly gallery were among the businesses caught up in the incident.

A spokesperson for Tasmania Police said officers arrived quickly, found the alleged offender and arrested him.

The teenager was treated for cuts to his arm and will appear in the Queenstown Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police do not believe the businesses were specifically targeted.
