Andrew Warner has taken out the top prize in the 2026 Autumn Photo Festival Competition, beating out nearly 1,000 entries from across southern Tasmania.
Destination Southern Tasmania CEO Alex Heroys said the standard of this year’s competition was impressive.
“The quality of the entries this year was exceptionally high,” he said.
“The judging panel selected 24 Images as finalists, with many others being worthy.”

Four other photographers received highly commended honours: Gary Sowter, Katy Morgan, Putu Ariawan and Chelsea Bell.
Heroys said entries came from right across the region, covering the Huon Valley, Derwent Valley, Central Highlands and Tasman Peninsula.

“We know that photographers have been traveling all around the region, taking photos and staying in regional areas,” he said.
“The turning of the fagus this year particularly has attracted thousands into Mount Field National Park.”
“The competition continues to grow year-on-year, reinforcing Southern Tasmania as a leading destination for autumn and seasonal photography.”
Warner’s winning image was chosen by a judging panel made up of Destination Southern Tasmania staff, board members and representatives from Handmark Gallery.

The top prize is a night’s accommodation at The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, including breakfast for two, valued at around $678.
A gallery of the top 24 images and the winning entry will be available on the Hobart and Beyond website.
Selected images were also featured across Hobart and Beyond’s social media, website and e-newsletters.
