86 Jet-Ski riders have taken to the waters of Tasmania’s East Coast over the weekend to raise money for Archie’s 100 in support of the Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Ward.
Jet Ski Tasmania organized the Archie’s 100 charity event for the ten-year anniversary of its Maria Island circumnavigation ride.
The loss of 7-year-old Archie “Bear” in a tragic boating accident in early 2020 left a lasting impact on his family and community.
In honor of Archie’s life, his family started “Archie’s 100” to celebrate his birthday each year and acknowledge the hard work of emergency service workers.
86 riders participated in Sunday’s 100km event and were accompanied by support boats, setting off from Raspins Beach in Orford shortly after 9 AM.
The ride took the riders around the northern tip of Maria Island in a clockwise direction, passing the eastern side with its awe-inspiring cliffs and caves.
The groups also stopped for breaks inside Reidle Bay and Shoal Bay (Chinaman’s Bay) before heading back to Darlington to complete the round trip.
Upon returning to Raspins Beach, the riders were welcomed by a barbecue before they headed back to their boat ramp.
