Libraries Tasmania is putting on a week of free activities and programs to encourage adults to pick up new skills and interests.
Adult Learners’ Week runs from September 1 to 8, with events planned at libraries and other venues across the state.
This year’s theme is Follow your compass: Learning for life, celebrating the ways learning can build confidence, strengthen connections and open new pathways at every stage of life.
Libraries Tasmania Digital Inclusion and Adult Learning Coordinator Sonya Moon said libraries continue to play a vital role in supporting lifelong learning.

“Libraries proudly provide places of welcome, inclusion and learning within local communities,” she said.
“There are some exciting new programs being offered for Adult Learners’ Week.”

“We encourage everyone to enjoy exploring new pathways, discover new interests and continue their learning journey,” Moon said.
Activities on offer include a Walking Book Chat at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart, a Furious Fiction Writing Group at Kingston or Glenorchy Library and 3D Printing at Launceston Library.
Sessions on media literacy, scam awareness and sustainable fashion are also running at various locations around the state.
Hobart Library will host an event exploring local tracks and trails.

All activities are free and open to adults of all ages and backgrounds.
More information is available on the Libraries Tasmania website or at local libraries.
