Another lightning storm is sweeping across Tasmania’s Midlands and West Coast regions this afternoon, less than 24 hours after the previous storm battered the state.
On Wednesday afternoon, approximately 10,000 lightning strikes were recorded across Tasmania, with more expected today.
According to BOM lightning tracking data, the storm is currently centred east of Ross and Tunbridge, with additional strikes reported near Ben Lomond in the north.
Several hundred lightning strikes have also been recorded in the Lake St Clair area.
In Hobart, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting the potential for a thunderstorm later in the afternoon, with temperatures expected to reach a high of 22 degrees.
Storms aren’t expected to develop around Launceston today, with the city enjoying a balmy 24 degrees as of 4pm.

Showers about the west and far south. Mainly fine elsewhere. Westerly winds.
