The small shed at the West Ulverstone Recreation Ground was found alight around 8:30pm on Saturday.

Locals in the area have taken to social media to suggest setting up a neighbourhood watch group to patrol the community and potentially prevent future fires.

An anonymous resident said the increase in suspected arson incidents had left them frustrated and fearful of what might go up in flames next.

“I can’t be the only person in West Ulverstone fed up with these group of feral kids going around breaking and setting fire to everything,” one person said.

“It’s only a matter of time … something bigger than a bin is going to be torched,” said another.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“Information can be provided directly to Ulverstone Police on 64786006 or provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au,” a police spokesperson said.
