Two women have been seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway at Turners Beach this morning.
The crash happened around 8:55am on Wednesday near the Clayton Road East intersection in Tasmania’s north-west.
Tasmania Police said it involved a white Holden Cruze and a white Ford Territory.
Both drivers were taken to the North West Regional Hospital for treatment.
An 86-year-old woman was driving the Holden Cruze. She is reported to be in a serious condition.
A 28-year-old woman was behind the wheel of the Ford Territory. She is also in a serious condition.
Police closed the highway for several hours and diverted motorists around the crash along Westella Drive.
Police are now investigating what caused the crash.
“Anyone with information in relation to the crash is asked to contact police on 131 444 and quote ESCAD 71-17062026,” police said.
