An animal killing spree in the once peaceful Devonport suburb of Stony Rise is continuing, with a ‘beloved’ pet goat named Mabel the latest victim.
Mabel was in a paddock where her owners Celicia and Simon Brown plan to build a house, only about 500 metres from where three alpacas were slaughtered last week.
It is understood Mabel had been living on the property since 2019 and was visited by her owners ‘every day’.
Mr and Mrs Brown say they are heartbroken at the news, telling The Advocate “it was a very sad day” for them.
“It appears she was cornered, her horns got hook on the fence and she had one of her ears ripped off and her throat ripped out”.
Devonport City Council officers have taken paw prints from the scene, and Pulse understands this time, it is clear that dogs were the culprits.
