A 17-year-old Hobart teenager watching this weekend’s Tasmania Super 440 says he dreams of racing on the Symmons Plains grid himself one day.
Xavier Fransen was among thousands of fans at the circuit for the milestone weekend, which crowned championship leader Broc Feeney as the winner of Sunday’s main race.
“Just love the race, love the thrill,” Fransen said. “Want to be here someday.”
He said the Sunday afternoon main race was the drawcard.
Fransen travelled to the track with family who came down from Melbourne for the weekend.

Also along for the trip is 15-year-old Levi Vassallo, who is visiting the circuit for the first time.
“Just love the Supercars and never been to this track and we thought it’d be a good experience,” Vassallo said.
Feeney converted pole position into a comfortable win, finishing 7.2 seconds ahead of Matthew Payne. The result extended his championship lead.
Payne’s Penrite teammate Kai Allen rounded out the podium.
The Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 started on Friday and wrapped up today as Round 5 of the Repco Supercars Championship.

A crowd of 31,801 came through the gates across the three-day program, organisers confirmed.
That is up 12.5% on last year and the event’s strongest turnout since 2019.
Saturday’s second race marked the 100th Supercars/ATCC championship round held at Symmons Plains, making it just the second Australian circuit to reach the milestone after Wanneroo Raceway in Western Australia.
The state government is investing $4 million from 2025 to 2027 to secure the Supercars round.

A further $1.8 million is going to Motorsport Tasmania for safety and amenity upgrades at the track.
The championship next heads to Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin from June 19 to 21.
