A bushfire at Underwood between Lilydale and Launceston has closed a key route into the north-east this afternoon.
Lilydale Road has been closed between Prossers Road and Pipers River Road due to smoke from the Underwood fire.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area until the smoke has cleared and the road has re-opened.
A Bushfire Advice message is in place for Lilydale Road surrounding areas near Underwood, with the blaze travelling towards Holloways Hill and Underwood.
Authorities say while there is no immediate threat, people in the area should check their bushfire plan.
