Tasmanian country music star Casey Barnes and his teenage daughter were taken to the hospital this week after being injured in a “pretty serious” car crash.
The award-winning musician shared images on Facebook showing him wearing a neck brace and his Jeep with a smashed-up rear following the incident on the Gold Coast Highway just north of the Gold Coast Airport.
“Just being transparent to let you guys know myself and my daughter Charli were involved in a pretty serious car accident last night,” he said.
“We were on our way home, stopped at a set of lights and an uninsured driver in a 4WD cannoned into the back of us doing 70km/h … which then slammed us into the car in front of us.”

“We were both taken to hospital and feeling pretty sore and sorry for ourselves today with concussion, a few cuts and bruises and some pretty nasty whiplash but thankfully able to walk away to tell the story.”
Barnes said his Jeep looked like a “total write off”.

“Definitely one of the more scary things to happen to me, especially when you’re a father and one of your children is involved,” he said.
“Grateful to the ambos and police for looking after us so well. Please be safe out there on the roads.”
Barnes is scheduled to perform at the Meatstock BBQ festival tour starting in New Zealand at the end of the month before heading to the CMC Rocks festival at Brisbane’s Willowbank Raceway in March.
