Emergency assistance grants have been activated for those affected by several fires burning in the Central Highlands area.
Extremely hot and dry conditions led to several significant bushfires in the Dee, Bradys Lake, Tarraleah, Victoria Valley, Osterley and Highlands Waters areas last week, two of which are being treated as suspicious.
With funds of up to a total of $1,000 available, including $250 per adult and $125 per child, the grants aim to assist those affected in ‘getting back on their feet’.
The Tasmanian Government’s Emergency Assistance Grant is available to residents of the impacted areas and can aid in purchasing clothing, food, transportation, personal items and essential shelter.
People who have been evacuated or displaced may be eligible for the grant, which can be applied for on the TasRecovery page of the TasAlert website.
