The state government agency overseeing Hobart’s $1 billion waterfront stadium project has disclosed a data spill involving stakeholder contact details.
Macquarie Point Development Corporation said a “data file” containing email addresses and phone numbers was left “outside of our secure network for a limited period”.
The “spill” was detected during routine cyber security monitoring, with the corporation notifying affected stakeholders on Wednesday afternoon.
“The issue was identified promptly and access to the file was removed as soon as it was detected,” the corporation said.

“While there is no evidence that the information was misused, we are notifying those with information listed as a precaution.”
Stakeholders have been advised to remain alert to unsolicited emails and unknown callers.

“As part of ongoing cyber security good practice, it is recommended that you do not respond to unsolicited emails and continue to be aware of unknown callers,” the corporation said.
The Macquarie Point Development Corporation is the statutory authority responsible for remediating and redeveloping the 9.3-hectare Macquarie Point site adjacent to Hobart’s CBD.
The agency is currently progressing plans for a multi-purpose stadium and mixed-use precinct at the former industrial site.
