All major roads jammed across Hobart as emergency services close two lanes on Tasman Bridge

Two lanes heading towards the eastern shore on Hobart’s Tasman Bridge have been closed by emergency services this afternoon.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and to anticipate delays while officers respond to an “isolated incident” on the bridge.

City-bound traffic is also being impacted by the lane closures and a reduced speed limit on the bridge.

Traffic is currently backing up to the Southern Outlet on Macquarie Street, with queues for the Domain Highway extending past the Brooker Highway intersection with Risdon Road.

Motorists coming from the eastern shore on the Tasman Highway are currently experiencing delays from Mornington.

Updated 3:10pm, Thursday January 18: Police have cleared the Tasman Bridge following the earlier incident incident.

Traffic is expected to remain backed up across the city for some time.
