Construction on the $60 million Devonport sports precinct is progressing on schedule, with key facilities now complete and major works set to begin within weeks.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Sport Minister Nick Duigan visited Devonport Oval on Monday to mark the milestone, confirming the project remains on budget.
The Devonport Cricket Club has already taken delivery of new state-of-the-art synthetic training nets, while the oval’s iconic velodrome has been fully resurfaced with minor finishing work underway.
Work on a three-court indoor community hall for netball and basketball will start in coming weeks, followed by a show court facility with seating for 2,000 spectators.

Duigan said the precinct would transform sport on the north-west coast.
“This precinct will be a game-changer,” he said. “It will provide up-to-the-minute infrastructure for generations to come.”

The minister said the completed facilities would support both community sport and pathways to elite competition.
Rockliff praised the collaboration between all levels of government, with the state contributing $30 million and the federal government $25 million.
“It’s fantastic to be able to support and invest in sporting infrastructure for our young people, but for people of all ages,” he said.
The premier said the investment would benefit not just Devonport but the entire north-west.

“It’s so important to invest in local facilities such as this,” he said.
Fairbrother is delivering the project, which is expected to wrap up by mid-2027.
