A 45-year-old Devonport woman has been arrested after 112 grams of Ice were intercepted in a ‘suspicious package’ at a mail sorting facility.
Police say the drug could have resulted in 1170 street deals and had the potential to put over 1000 Tasmanians at risk.
Following the woman’s arrest, further searches uncovered more drugs, including ice and cannabis, and alleged evidence of importation.
The woman is now facing multiple drug charges, including trafficking in controlled substance and unlawfully importing a controlled substance, and will appear in court today.
Western District Commander Stuart Wilkinson said Tasmania Police are committed to targeting the supply of illicit drugs and protecting the community.
“These are highly addictive drugs, and cause significant damage when distributed throughout the community,” Commander Wilkinson said.
“We will continue to target criminals involved in the manufacture and distribution of drugs.”
