Queensland artist De Lamby Wulff is unveiling a new exhibition in Hobart after spending a month creating art from discarded materials as part of a residency she won through last year’s Hadley’s Art Prize.
The exhibition, titled HoLoS – House of Lamby on Show, opens on Friday and runs until June 29 at Hadley’s Orient Hotel with free admission.
Wulff was awarded the Residency Prize, which included a month’s accommodation at The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, an art studio in the Salamanca Arts Centre and a $500 Artery voucher for art supplies.
Last year’s Hadley’s Art Prize judges said they were drawn to her commitment to sustainability and community involvement.

“We are interested in what new materials De may find in Hobart, and how she may share her material storytelling with the local community,” they said.
Wulff said the opportunity meant a great deal to her.

“Receiving the residency was both humbling and deeply affirming,” she said.
“Four weeks of uninterrupted creative freedom is a rare and meaningful gift.”
During her time in Hobart, she sourced thrown-out materials including magazines, ring pull tabs and cans, weaving them into detailed artworks.
The exhibition features sculptures and 2D works created during the residency alongside pieces she’s made over the past few years.
That includes a piece that came runner-up in the 2025 World of WearableArt competition in New Zealand.
“Visitors will experience a diverse collection of artworks, beaconing to be touched, and evoke discussion on the materials and processes behind the pieces,” Wulff said.
“I encourage visitors to experience the exhibition with a sense of wonder and discovery, where the total package is greater than the sum of its individual parts.”
