E-scooters will soon be hitting the streets of Devonport, with an operator recently selected for a 12-month long trial period.
The Devonport City Council has announced that Beam e-scooters will be available around the city – but confined to shared pathways.
The trial will be geographically limited to allow the council to evaluate the service’s usage, benefits and impact on the community.
The operating area is restricted to the council’s active trail network and connects the Splash Aquatic Centre, Mersey Bluff recreation areas, Waterfront Park and Victoria Bridge into East Devonport.
Beam are currently in the process of finalising the best time to launch the service, which will include community information, rider training and safety sessions at the outset of the trial period.
