Two people are in hospital in a serious condition after a crash that has closed the East Derwent Highway north of Hobart this morning.
Emergency services were called to the two-car crash at the Otago Bay Road intersection at Otago Bay around 4:40am.

Paramedics treated one person at the scene.
Ambulance Tasmania later took both drivers to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Tasmania Police said their conditions were “considered serious but stable”.
Police have not said what caused the crash.
Crash investigators are still at the scene and police said their work “could take several hours”.
The highway is closed from the Clives Avenue roundabout at Old Beach to the Bowen Bridge.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and use other routes this morning.
