Elderly man treated for smoke inhalation after suspicious Claremont unit fire

An elderly man has been treated for possible smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a unit in Hobart’s northern suburbs early this morning.

Firefighters were called to Box Hill Road in Claremont around 4:15am on Thursday after reports of a fire in one of four conjoined units.

The Tasmania Fire Service said everyone had been evacuated.

Paramedics were called to check on the man at the scene.

Tasmania Police said the fire was being treated as suspicious and investigations were continuing.
