The Esk Highway has been closed from St Marys to Scamander as a bushfire in the Falmouth area continues to burn this morning.
Police say the highway has been shut from the bottom of St Marys Pass to the Tasman Highway at Upper Scamander Road and will remain closed to all traffic until mid-morning at this stage.
They ask motorists to detour via Top Marshes Road through Upper Scamander if necessary.
The Tasmania Fire Service say the bushfire near McManus Drive in Falmouth poses “no immediate threat” at this time, but ask everyone to avoid the area and to monitor conditions.
“Tasmania Fire Service is attending. Conditions are expected to be changeable,” TFS say.
