Tasmania JackJumpers fan favourite Majok Deng has locked in his future with the club, signing a two-year deal that will keep him in Hobart until 2028.

The contract ensures the 33-year-old power forward will spend at least five seasons with the JackJumpers.

Deng has won the club’s fan favourite award in each of the past two seasons.

The 205 centimetre forward and father of two said Tasmania felt like home.

“It means the world to me and my family to call Tasmania and the JackJumpers home,” Deng said.

“Our hearts belong to this place and this team.”

“As a player, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive coach, high performance team and club and I want to continue to work hard and do them proud on and off the court.”

JackJumpers general manager of basketball operations Darren Smith said Deng was a key part of the team.

“Majok is always one of our greatest performers on court and this season was no different,” Smith said.

“Majok is an impact player, he’s been the difference between us winning or losing more times than I’d like to count this season and his entire time at the club for that matter.”

Smith said Deng’s ability to play multiple positions was a major strength.

“His versatility is a huge asset to the team, he can fill multiple roles at a very high standard,” he said.

Coach Scott Roth said he was pleased Deng would remain with the club.

“We’re all very happy to have Majok and his family with us for another two years,” Roth said.

“It’s really important to have continuity as a club and also to have a player of his stature in our ranks.”

Roth said Deng had developed into a key leader in recent seasons.

“Majok has really grown as a leader in the past three seasons,” he said.

“He’s one of my all-time favourite guys and an incredible father to his kids and father figure in the club too.”
