A fire has destroyed a unit in Hobart’s northern suburbs tonight.
The Tasmania Fire Service said it was alerted to a fire in a garage on Milpara Street in Berriedale after the occupant called 000 just before 9pm on Sunday.
The sole occupant had evacuated before calling for help, the TFS said.
Three crews were sent to the scene to access and contain the fire.
“Early indications are that the house is completely destroyed,” police said in an update.
“No person has been injured as a result of this incident.”
Police and firefighters evacuated neighbouring properties as crews worked to put out the blaze.
“Members of the public are asked to stay clear of the immediate area whilst fire fighters work to extinguish the blaze,” police said.
The fire service said a fire investigation would be undertaken on Monday morning.
