Police have seized a cache of firearms and drugs during a series of raids in the Mole Creek area of Tasmania.
The operation, codenamed “BOLD,” was carried out by Northern Drug Investigation Services, members of the Viper Taskforce, and the Police Dog Handler Unit.
A man was arrested after a pistol was found in his vehicle during a stop in Deloraine, which led police to execute two search warrants at residences in Mole Creek.
During the searches, authorities uncovered 12 firearms, including automatic weapons, shotguns, rifles and pistols, with some confirmed as stolen.
They also seized over 1500 rounds of ammunition, 355 grams of methylamphetamine, 3.25 kg of MDMA, 446 MDMA tablets and $47,000 cash.
The drugs have an estimated potential street value of $1,000,000.
A 43-year-old man from Mole Creek was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled drug for sale, possessing a controlled drug, possessing firearms, possessing stolen firearms, possessing a loaded firearm, and dealing in the proceeds of crime.
The man is due to appear in Launceston Magistrates Court today at 11:45AM.
Police said the seizure was a significant win in their ongoing fight against drug-related crimes and urged the community to report any suspicious activity to authorities.
