A pregnant dog that found herself trapped underneath a home in Devonport this morning has been safely rescued by firefighters.
Luna the Golden Retriever was just “hours away from delivering a litter of puppies” when she ventured under her family’s house on Tuesday morning in search of a comfortable place to rest.
Unfortunately, she wedged herself under the deck in a spot that her family couldn’t reach to free her or her swollen belly, leading them to call the Tasmania Fire Service for help.
“On arrival, the crew found Luna stuck under the narrowest part of the deck and had to remove some of the decking boards,” the TFS said.
The Devonport firefighters then dug a hole before successfully pulling her out.
“As you can see from the smile on her face, she took it all in stride and is now looking for a safer place to deliver her pups.”
