A person is believed to have entered a Devonport building overnight and ‘turned on multiple taps’, leading to flooding across “several levels” and affecting multiple businesses.
Police say officers are currently investigating the incident, which resulted in ‘significant damage’ to multiple businesses near the intersection of Best and Rooke Streets at around 5am on Thursday.
Detectives suspect that an individual gained access to the building and turned on a tap on an upper floor, resulting in the damage.
TasWater was called in to assist with the situation, as water had affected several businesses on the ground floor.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity to contact the Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
