A Risdon Vale GP clinic is facing permanent closure as two of their key staff members leave the business for interstate opportunities and retirement.

The Healthology Medical Centre apologised to patients for the “surprise” mid-April closure in a brief message on their website.

They said work was underway to replace the departed doctors and redirected all 1,395 active patients to their Rosny or Rokeby clinics.

“If we still have not been able to replace these doctors by 30 June 2024, we will be forced to permanently close on or about 30 June 2024,” the message read.

“We understand the importance of continuity of care and are committed to assisting our patients in this transition period.”

Both the federal and state governments have reportedly entered discussions to find a solution that will benefit the community.

The nearby Risdon Vale Pharmacy has assured their customers that the staffing challenges at the clinic will “not affect the services of the pharmacy” or their opening hours.

“At the pharmacy, we have been politically advocating for our community since we heard that the medical centre may close,” they said.

“It is extremely important as a community that everyone in our community engages with our politicians so they understand the significant negative affect that our medical centre closure will have.”
