Two new food and drink venues have open-end in the departures lounge of Hobart Airport as part of its $200 million terminal redevelopment.
The Coal River Café and York Street Bar are now serving travellers before they fly, offering local Tasmanian produce, beers, wines and light meals.
Hobart Airport chief financial and commercial officer Kate Gillies said the airport wanted to reflect Tasmania’s character.
“As Tasmania’s gateway, we want the airport experience to reflect the quality, character and flavours of our state,” she said.

“As we continue to expand, travellers can expect more choice across food, beverage and retail, ensuring the airport experience keeps pace with growing passenger demand.”
Coal River Café has moved from arrivals to a purpose-built space in departures, more than doubling in size.

It now offers dine-in breakfast, lunch and dinner alongside grab-and-go options, showcasing Coal River Farm’s cheeses, chocolates and locally sourced produce.
York Street Bar has opened while the existing Cascade Bar undergoes refurbishment, giving passengers a spot to unwind with local drinks and light food.
Coal River Farm owner Daniel Leesong said the café was an exciting new chapter for the business.
“This new space allows us to showcase more of what Coal River Farm has to offer, from our handcrafted cheeses and chocolates to quality local produce, while creating a memorable send-off for visitors and locals alike,” he said.

The new outlets feature Tasmanian suppliers including Lesley Black’s, Cripps Bakery, Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey, Westerway Farm, Albert Brewery, Huon Salmon and Ritual Coffee Roasters.
More venues are on the way, with Outbound Café expected in coming weeks and a Hungry Jack’s planned for 2027.
