Two Hobart brothers have wrapped up a gruelling 75-day endurance challenge this weekend, with Sam Harris capping it off by running 42 kilometres through the city to raise money for women affected by gynaecological cancer.
Sam and his brother Luke Harris took on the challenge in honour of their mum, Jo Harris, who died from ovarian cancer in 2023.
Sam ran from Sandy Bay to Claremont and back today to finish the effort.
Over the past 75 days the brothers completed the 75 Hard program, which requires two workouts a day, a strict diet and no alcohol, every day and in all conditions.

Their GoFundMe page, Sam and Luke’s 75 for SHE, had raised $3,580 from 41 donations toward a $5,000 target.
The funds are going to the SHE Foundation, which supports Tasmanian women and families affected by gynaecological cancer through practical help, awareness and advocacy.

Sam Harris said the challenge was about honouring his mum.
“This has been about doing something difficult for a cause that matters to our family,” he said.
“The last 75 days have been tough, but it is nothing compared with what women and their families go through when they are dealing with cancer.”
“Running 42 kilometres is a big way to finish, but it feels like the right one. I am grateful to everyone who has donated and supported us.”

The SHE Foundation is working toward a dedicated cancer wellness centre in Hobart for people affected by cancer and their families.
The foundation is chaired by Sam and Luke’s father, Scott Harris.
“This is a deeply personal fundraiser for our family, but it also speaks to why SHE Foundation exists,” Scott Harris said.
“Gynaecological cancer affects women and families across Tasmania, and they deserve practical support, awareness and care.”

Donations can be made through the Sam and Luke’s 75 for SHE GoFundMe page.
