The streets of Hobart’s city centre will be transformed into a festive wonderland on Saturday for the annual Christmas pageant.
Over 40 floats and more than 1,500 participants will take part in the parade, each showcasing their creativity with vibrant displays.
To accommodate the event, several streets in the central business district will be closed from early morning.
Liverpool, Campbell and Collins Streets will be shut from 7:30am to 1pm on the non-CBD side of Argyle Street.
Argyle, Elizabeth, Collins, Argyle, Harrington and Murray streets will be closed for the Pageant from 9am to 1pm.
The parade will begin at 10:30am at the corner of Argyle and Liverpool Streets.
It will then proceed towards Harrington Street and back to Argyle along Collins Street.
The City of Hobart says free parking will be available at the Regatta Grounds and on streets within the CBD.
However, they are advising drivers to check meters in the CBD area bordered by Brisbane, Harrington, Davey and Campbell streets for the ‘Free today Xmas Pageant’ message.
All other parking meters will operate as normal.
Both the Argyle Street Car Park and Centrepoint Car Park will be closed from around 9am to 1pm due to road closures.
People will not be able to enter or exit during this time.
