A popular Tasmanian personal trainer is in the running to be named Australia’s best, being listed as a finalist in the 2023 AUSactive National Awards.
Michael Behrakis, owner of DoDay Personal Training in Hobart, says he takes a ‘positive approach’ to training – making it something fun ‘rather than a chore or something to fear’.
“Training is for everyone,” he said.
“But many people feel intimidated by the gym environment and think it is just for ‘fit people’. It’s not.”

“A few of my clients are on the NDIS, a couple of my clients are 200+ kilos, a couple are 55+ years old, and some are under 16 years old.”
“One of my clients has just reached the milestone of losing 130 kilos, which is truly life-changing.”

Behrakis is a Tasmanian finalist in three categories for the 2023 AUSactive National Awards Program, including Independent Business of Year, Personal Trainer of The Year and People’s Choice.
Jo Cordell-Cooper from Geilston Bay is also up for Personal Trainer of the Year and Mathew Lamb from South Hobart is a finalist for the People’s Choice Small Business award.
Vicki Allan is the Tasmanian finalist for Exercise Instructor of the Year.
Winners will be announced at the national awards in September.
