Bren Godfrey said gyms should be places where people feel supported

For Bren Godfrey, the decision to turn his Howrah gym into a fundraising hub for mental health hits close to home.

“Mental health has affected people close to me, including friends and family who are sadly no longer with us,” the Cult Fitness founder said.

The gym will host a HYROX Charity Day on September 5, with eight one-hour classes running from 8am and 30-minute breaks between sessions.

Each class is capped at 15 participants and costs $30 per person, with all entry fees going to Speak Up! Stay ChatTY.

“Physical and mental health go hand in hand. Training can provide routine, purpose, confidence and a positive outlet during difficult periods,” Godfrey said.

“Gyms should be places where people feel supported and connected – not judged.”

“Sometimes simply turning up, moving your body and being around good people can make a huge difference.”

Individuals can sign up alone or groups such as workplaces, sporting clubs and families can book an entire class.
