Hugh Dixon and Angelica Clark have written themselves into Tasmania Football Club history as the first winners of the Devils’ VFL and VFLW Best and Fairest awards.
Dixon, an experienced key forward, polled 241 votes to take out the VFL count after the club’s first season in the competition.
The 27-year-old played all 18 home-and-away matches and finished seven votes clear at the top.
He also picked up the Stronger Together Award, voted by his teammates for the player who best reflects the team’s values.
Nick Williams was runner-up on 234 votes, with Brandon Leary third on 233.
Small forward Jed Hagan was named Leading Goalkicker after booting 38 goals from 20 games in his debut VFL season.
Bailey Boag was judged Tasmania’s Best Finals Player following two standout showings in the Devils’ first finals campaign.
In the VFLW, Clark became a key part of Tasmania’s midfield on her way to the Best and Fairest with 192 votes.
Just nine votes separated the top three at the end of the count.
Perri King finished second on 187 votes, while Ava Read was third on 183.
Read was also the VFLW Leading Goalkicker with 21 goals from 14 appearances.
Grace White was given the Stronger Together Award by her teammates for her contribution to the team’s culture.
Lachy Hay won the Honour the Map, Inspire the Future Award for a player who has embraced what it means to be a Tasmanian Devil off the field.
Head of football operations Aaron Pidgeon praised both winners.
“Congratulations to Angelica and Hugh on being awarded the inaugural Best and Fairest for our VFL and VFLW programs,” Pidgeon said.
“Both athletes set the standard for the program in how they prepare for games, showed great leadership and performed consistently when we needed them to. They’re very deserving winners.
“It was an incredible year of firsts for our club and it’s great to be able to celebrate the year that was. We look forward to what’s coming in the VFL and VFLW in 2027.”
The club will announce its first wave of 17-year-old signings at a draft-style pre-listing event tomorrow.
